Background:
- Only goats would think they are being judged
- God knows if you are a sheep or a goat
- If you are a goat, you have a chance to become a sheep
- If you keep living like a goat you will die like a goat separated from God
- Some of us will smell like smoke just making it in, but that is better than not getting in
Key Sermon Points:
1. The separation
- Separation from God is the biblical reality of being in hell
- It is important to know whether we are sheep or goats
- The separation between the sheep and the goat is Jesus Christ Himself
2. The reason for the separation
- The sheep show compassion, love, service, gentle, timid, highly social, intelligent, etc.
- The sheep know the shepherd despite being around goats
- The goats represent selfish, unruly, easily upset sheep, prideful, independent
- Sheep are always willing to share
- Goats are always looking to start trouble
- The sheep depends on the shepherd for protection
- Faith in Jesus Christ produces works
- Once we embrace Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we produce good works
- Faith without works is dead
- When we love Jesus Christ, he demonstrates us on how to love
- It has nothing to do with works and everything to do with embracing Jesus (Ephesians 2:8-9)
- Goats are selfish and prideful and say they don't need God
- We cannot love the Lord and not demonstrate it
3. The inheritance of the saved and the punishment of the unrighteous
- We must come to an understanding whether or not we are a sheep or a goat
- We have a choice whether to embrace Jesus Christ or be separated from Him
