Background:
- There are no words in the human language that can explain God's nature
- The wise man bringing the gifts to Jesus
- Jesus the son of Mary
- Though Jesus was a baby He was older than Mary and the same age of His Father
- The gifts of Jesus were better than the gifts of the wise men
- There are no words in the human language that can explain the gift of the human Savior
Key Sermon Points:
1. God's love for fallen humanity
- God's love is unconditional
- God's love is not earned, it is freely given
- God's motive for giving is that He loved the evil and sinful falling world
- If it was not for Jesus Christ, we would not be saved
- Thank God for demonstrating the gift He gave (Romans 5:8)
- We love because God first loved us
- God's love is lasting until the end
- Our love is conditional but God's love is unconditional
- God loved us first so that we might know how to truly love (1 John 4:10-19)
- We cannot blame our environment on our situation, we can take the good from the bad and make a choice
2. The extent of His Gift
- A person must receive what Christ has done to receive the gift
- God gives all of us the choice to receive His gift, the choice is ours to decide (2 Peter 3:9)
- When we see people who are sinning and have been sinning for a long time we question God and His response "I'm giving them a chance, the same one I gave you"
3. The result and the promise of His Love
- The Magi that came with the gifts weren't Jews but Gentiles
- We too are Gentiles
- When we embrace Jesus we are drafted into the Tree as a Jew
- The road is narrow, broad is the way that leads to destruction but narrow leads to eternal life
- We have been sealed with God's stamp of approval until the day of redemption (Ephesians 4:9)
- We have been brought with a price and the price is high
- Our bodies don't belong to us
- The baby Mary birthed will one day save her
