Background:
- Some people have expressed discontentment
- Discontentment - a lack of satisfaction with your current status, situation, or possessions
- Discontentment can be temporary and can be considered a grievance
- How important is your peace of mind?
- Keys represent access, authorities, insight
- To bind or loose things in heaven means that God must be behind it (Matthew 16:19; Matthew 18:18-20
- Whenever we are discontent, then we must find a way to get out of the discontentment
Key Sermon Points:
- The Eternal key
- The key that belongs to God
- We should always have a mindset to rejoice in the Lord no matter what else is going on
- Jesus stated that he would leave a Comforter that will dwell within us everyday (John 14:16-17)
- We can talk to God the Father to deal with our discontentment
- The Trinity all work together
- The Holy Spirit will help us with discontentment
- Prayer is making your request known to God as you adore and worship him
- If we put anything in front of God, he can move it
- Supplication is an earnest sharing of our needs and problems
- Thanksgiving is appreciation and gratitude
- The Holy Spirit will point us in the direction of Jesus Christ (John 14:26)
- The Internal key
- What's on the inside - the internal spirit of a man or woman
- The internal must be God-sustained
- Something is always beckoning us
- We are trying to keep up with technology that can process faster than us
- We need to take a moment to stop to regather ourselves
- We are missing a lot because we are moving too fast
- We will suffer sometimes (Philippians 1:29)
- Our responsibility is to build the inner man
- The hearts and mind represent the inner man The peace of God will keep our hearts and mind (Philippians 4:7)
- We should have the mindset of Christ
- There should be a time of fasting for the internal spirit
- The Horizontal key
- The eternal key (the vertical key) is a relationship with God
- When the eternal key is right, then the horizontal key will be right
- The horizontal key is our relationships with each other
- The brethren helps us (Philippians 2:1-3; Philippians 4:2-3)
- There are people around you that can bless you if you let them
- The Whatever key
- The whatever is whatsoever God says - things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, that is virtue and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8-9)
- The whatsoever should be influential
- The mindset that must govern our world view
- We need at least one accountable person
- Our mind should be focused on the whatsoever disposition
- We need each other and we need cohesion
- We are to do the things that we have learned and seen
