Background:
- To be anxious means to be worried or nervous
- Worries can sometimes be the elephant in the room
- What we worry about tends to be legitimate issues (kids, marriage, money, etc.)
- We all worry about the what if's that may not come to pass
Key Sermon Points:
1. Jesus got that
- We may not see how God is going to do it but we need to have faith and trust in God (John 6:31 & 1 Cor 10:4)
- We do not need to worry (John 6:31 & 1 Cor 10:4 & Deut. 29:5)
2. Key to getting what's needed
- If we are saved Jesus is our connection to the kingdom of God
- Seek first the kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33)
- Jesus is a way maker and we must seek Him with all our heart, mind and strength (Romans 8:28)
- We may not know how He will do it but it will be done perfectly
3. What about tomorrow
- We do not need to worry about tomorrow
- Sometimes we get so depressed we fall asleep (Luke 22:39-45)
- Anxiety in the heart of a man causes depression (Proverbs 12:25)
4. What if I'm anxious
- We need to change our anxieties into a prayer list (Psalms 51:6 & Philippians 4:6-7)
- We need to be truthful
- Pray without ceasing (1Thess. 5:17)
- God wants our humble and earnest specific prayer (James 5:16)
- Do not come to him with half truths
- Do not hold back give it to Him
- He already knows what we need He just wants to see if we will be honest about it
- Give Supplication with thanksgiving (1 Thess 5:18)
- We need to let all of our requests be known to God ( 1 Peter 5:7)
- Only God can deliver us
- God's peace is 2 fold:
- Deliver the faithful believer through trials and tribulations (Psalms 31:4)
- Guard standing serious watch over our heart and mind
- This peace only comes from knowing Jesus Christ
- Jesus has all supernatural power and we can depend on Him
- We need to stop worrying and get ready for our blessing
