Background:

  • We will read Genesis to Jude but side step Revelation because we are scared
  • Satan does not want us to read it because it talks about Satan's end
  • Revelation is one of the most difficult biblical books to interpret
  • Revelation is disclosing thus what the Lord has to say to us
  • It is important to understand the book of Revelation contains the truth that has been concealed but has now been revealed
  • Revelation warns the church of the dangers of sin
  • The Word is not to make us feel comfortable but to convict us of our sins
  • It instructs us how we need to live and behold ourselves
  • It shows the strength of Christ and the believers must overcome Satan
  • It shows the glory and majesty of God
  • Revelation magnifies his glory

Key Sermon Points:

  1. It's central theme
    • It is Jesus Christ - our Bridge Over Troubled Water, Bright and Morning Star, our Savior, our Redeemer
    • He is still working on us and after awhile we will come out as pure gold
    • This is not man's book, all scripture is written by God (2 Timothy 3:16)
    • He is David's Creator as well as his descendant(Revelation 22:16)
    • The gospels are also about Jesus Christ it presents him in his first coming (Galatians 1:11-12)
    • He comes in his humanity in the gospels but in revelation he comes in his glory
    • He is not coming as a sacrificial lamb but as a lion (Revelation 19:11-15)
  2. The divine source
    • The book of Revelation is a gift of from Father to the Son
    • As a reward for His perfect service the Father promised to exalt the Son
  3. It's human recipient
    • God give it to Jesus, Jesus give it to the angel and the angel gives it to John
    • Being dependent upon God is the best way to hear Him
    • John is humble and knows his position, he does not try to be something he is not
    • At the end of the day, it has nothing to do with titles but everything to do with our relationship with Jesus Christ
    • We are willing slaves for the Lord
    • We are bound servants of the Lord
    • We serve out of love and devotion to our master (Exodus 21)
    • Those who refuse to accept Jesus can not understand ( 1 Corinthians 2:14)
  4. It's a mysterious book
    • This book tells the future
    • The writer wrote the history before history was accomplished
    • His prophecies are always accurate
    • John told facts not what he thought
    • This book speaks of obedience (Mark 13:5-7)
  5. The promise of blessings
    • The only biblical book that comes with a blessing for those who read it, claim it, and respond to it in obedience
    • This book has several beatitudes (Revelation 14:13, Revelation 16:15, Revelation19:9, Revelation20:6, Revelation 22:7, Revelation 22:14)
    • There is a special blessing attached to this book
    • Scripture can only be effective when applied to ones life
    • His promised blessing is eternal life
    • He has promised to never leave us
    • He will forgive us if we come to Him and ask for forgiveness
    • He promised us peace
