Nov. 10, 2024

Background:

  • There are so many decisions that we must make
  • The most crucial aspect is our decision regarding Jesus
  • God made his choice by providing a way of redemption for you and me (Colossians 1:14)

Key Sermon Points:

  1. There are two gates
    • The command is not to admire the gate but to ponder the gate but if i should go in or not
    • The believers ought to have the beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-11)
    • Jesus command is not to enter some gate but to enter the narrow gate.
    • We will either enter the narrow gate or the broad gate
    • Jesus identifies Himself with God (John 14:6)
    • Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life
    • It is important to know that you have the Son (Isaiah 64:6)
    • All of us have sinned and come short of His glory
    • The broad way is the easy way and the way of the world
    • There is a price to pay for the broad way and many people will find it
    • Few people will find the narrow way
    • Which will you choose?
  2. There are two ways
    • The gate that is wide leads to the broad way (ungodly) and the narrow gate leads to the narrow way (godly) (Psalm 1:2-4)
    • We have a responsibility to answer the call (Jeremiah 29:13)
    • It is important to understand that if you get into the kingdom you sought God out, not that you stumbled in
  3. There are two destinations
    • The broad way leads to destruction where as the narrow way leads to life (Jeremiah 21:8)
    • There are many roads and most are attractive, appealing and filled with many travelers
    • Christianity is the only religion where people are persecuted for what they believe
    • Christians are a threat to Satan
    • We can't work independently from the Father to meet our needs
    • The other roads are attractive to the flesh. You can do anything but the narrow road says "NO"
    • The way of God is narrow, it leads to eternal life
    • You want to be on the narrow road, the road to righteousness
    • There are two groups of people going into the gate:
      • One is headed through the broad gate towards destruction
      • Some go through the narrow gate towards the destination of eternal life
    • We must search for God and seek Him out
    • God is righteous, pure, holy, and right all the time
    • In order for us to live the life for Jesus we must embrace the Son
    • You must be born again
